EDWARD H. JAMES
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
At Bright Beginnings, we feel that it is important for children to
have
role models, and we
strive to do this not only for our children at the
center, but for high
school children as well. With that in mind, Mary
Fasick has established
the Edward James Memorial Scholarship to
honor her former
principal and mentor. Financial money will be
awarded to a high school
senior who is pursuing a teaching career
to be used for books and
tuition.
Edward James, who pasted away in February 2007, was a long time
resident of Oxford. He
taught in the Oxford Area School District,
coached soccer and
baseball, and was a past president of the Oxford
Area Teachers
Association. He was involved in the Oxford community
by serving on the
historical commission, being a charter member and
past president of the
Oxford Area Athletic Association, and a member
of the Oxford Methodist
Church.
Mr. James retired from the Christiana School District in Delaware,
where he served as a
principal for many years. After his retirement,
Mr. James came back to
Oxford to serve in various administrative
capacities.
